Being chosen to lead a school is both an honor and a profound responsibility. As principal, I serve as an advocate for every student, family, staff member, and the community as a whole. My leadership philosophy and vision are grounded in three core values: collaboration, equitable educational opportunities for all students, and a culture of growth and continuous learning.

Collaboration is built on open, honest, and consistent communication, as well as trust. School leaders must foster multiple communities that work together to promote student achievement. 

Every student deserves to feel physically and emotionally safe, valued, and supported in their school environment. My goal is for each student to feel confident and courageous enough to take risks and engage deeply in learning. All students should have access to high-quality programs, differentiated instruction that meets their unique needs, and opportunities that broaden their experiences and spark their curiosity.

Effective leadership requires a steadfast commitment to lifelong learning. I aim to develop teacher leaders who leverage their individual strengths and passions to foster a culture of growth, innovation, and mutual support.

Before becoming an administrator, I had 17 years of teaching experience in Alaska and two years of international experience. As an elementary teacher, I taught single- and multi-grade classrooms from kindergarten to fifth grade. I have worked as a special education teacher in Valdez for 10 years.

I earned undergraduate degrees from Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania and Adams State College in Colorado, a master’s degree in special education from the University of Alaska Southeast, and a graduate licensure in educational leadership for principals at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

My husband and I have made Valdez our home since 2015. In our free time, we enjoy snow machining, boating, running, and taking full advantage of the many outdoor opportunities the area offers.
